Festiapp: The app behind Chile’s biggest gamer event... Powered by Tesseract 😎🤘🏻

Festiapp transformed the Festigame 2022 experience with gamification, virtual economy, and interactive maps, validating a scalable solution now being explored for amusement parks like Wonderpark.

As part of Festigame 2023, Tesseract took part in the country’s most important gaming event in a unique way, introducing something never seen before at this scale: the gamification of the live experience. This included access to exclusive activities, interactive maps, schedules, and a virtual store connected to the event’s ecosystem.

All of this was made possible through Festiapp, a mobile app integrated with Praxsuite, which enabled inventory management, real-time schedules, and a virtual economy for the event—serving more than 15,000 attendees.

The result? Technical validation in front of thousands of users, with the ability to package, scale, and replicate this solution—ready for other event producers.

The challenge? Digitize and innovate a massive live experience.

In pursuit of enhancing the user experience at Festigame, the decision was made to digitize the attendee journey, delivering an immersive experience with new venue navigation and access to unique, dynamic activities and quests.

The app’s role went beyond organizing and informing—it had to connect sponsors, rewards, and activities within a single platform. The main challenge was executing all of this in real time, at massive scale, with technical stability.

Tesseract's solution: Festiapp, a gamified event app with its own economy

The system was successfully stress-tested in isolated environments, supporting up to 15,000 active users simultaneously.

FestiApp was developed in just 8 weeks by a team of 4 people and was fully deployed in time for Festigame 2023.

The app achieved the following milestones:

  • Praxsuite as the backend and CMS of the event
  • Management of multiple parallel processes: interactive map, real-time schedule, inventory management
  • Gamification and creation of virtual currency earned by participating in activities and visiting stands
  • Virtual currency redemption using real-time inventory and stock logic
  • Support for data flow with up to 15,000 simultaneous users

Technical Architecture of the Solution

FestiApp was built on Praxsuite’s modular infrastructure—Tesseract’s operations management and Backend-as-a-Service platform—which enabled fast and adaptable implementation, reducing project operational costs by 40% compared to traditional development.

The system defined two user profiles:

  • Stand User: managed the delivery of virtual coins and tokens from kiosk-type stations and oversaw the event’s economy (typically stand owners or system admins)
  • End User: used tokens to participate in raffles, activities, and redeem prizes (event attendees)

Three key Praxsuite modules sustained this operation:

  • Authorization: authenticated end users in their workspaces with fine-grained role and permission control
  • Notifications: enabled real-time alerts about new products, achievements, and tokens earned—boosting engagement
  • Controller: powered secure dynamic queries for personalized itineraries, coin balances, prize catalogs, and more—all in real time

This technical approach drastically reduced development time, completing the entire project in just 8 weeks with a small team, while scaling successfully to 15,000 concurrent users.

Was Festiapp used during the event?

Although Festiapp was not officially used during Festigame, it was fully functional and technically validated at the time of the event. The reason: lack of permissions and final authorization from some sponsors and the event’s producer.

  • The app ran without errors during internal testing
  • Gamification, UX, and redemption processes were fully validated and approved by test users
  • The project opened a new business line and drove new features in the platform
  • Even though the app wasn't published, all technical flows were validated for future deployments

What technical benefits and results were achieved?

  • Technical validation in simulated environments with 15,000 users
  • Positive feedback from internal test sessions
  • Full frontend and backend integration
  • Platform adaptable to any type of event: fairs, concerts, conventions
  • Native support for sponsors, redemptions, and internal economies

What innovative features did Festiapp include?

Tesseract successfully packaged Festiapp’s development as part of its live experience product suite. This bundle includes:

  • Activity booking and reservation integration
  • Stabilized virtual economy modules within Praxsuite
  • Direct commercialization with other event producers
  • No-code CMS manager
  • Modular and scalable backend for various event formats

What’s next?

This custom development validated the product with a real-world client like Festigame, proving it as a robust solution for large-scale events with gamification, custom economies, and more.

With this experience, Tesseract is preparing to enter and enhance new entertainment markets—such as festivals, concerts, and sports tournaments—where the platform’s modular architecture naturally fits. The solid technical foundation and scalability of Praxsuite position the company to deliver ready-to-use or customizable solutions for producers looking to digitize live experiences and explore new monetization and engagement strategies.

From this point on, Tesseract began exploring the use of Praxsuite in amusement parks, such as Wonderpark in Chile’s Fifth Region.
